Modern Web

Most small business websites run on a stack that was current ten years ago: WordPress, a page builder, a pile of plugins, and a host that may or may not have patched last week's flaw. I move them to a modern stack that patches itself, loads fast on phones, is built to be found by search and AI engines, and can be changed in hours instead of weeks, because it is built with the same AI coding tools that make changes cheap.

Who it is forOwner-run businesses and practices whose site was built years ago by someone who has moved on, or who are paying every month for a stack nobody dares to touch.

Old stacks are a liability now

In 2025 researchers logged 11,334 new vulnerabilities in the WordPress ecosystem, 42% more than the year before, and 91% of them were in plugins. Nearly half had no fix available when they were made public, and the heavily exploited ones were under mass attack within a median of five hours.

Of more than 316,000 WordPress sites that reveal their PHP version, over 70% run an outdated one, and the single most common version reached end of life in 2022. The update button in the dashboard cannot reach that layer; only the host can, and on cheap shared hosting nobody is in a hurry.

Speed decides whether people stay

Only 45% of WordPress sites pass Google's Core Web Vitals on phones, the lowest of the major platforms, and page builders are a big reason: they generate heavier pages than a site written for purpose.

A modern site ships as static pages from a network close to the visitor. Every change gets a preview link before it goes live, and undoing one takes a click, which is the real reason old sites never get updated: nobody wants to be the one who broke it.

Built to be found, by people and by AI

Clients now ask how to show up in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI answers as much as in search results. The honest answer is that AI engines mostly cite pages that already rank, so the work is the fundamentals done well: clean server-rendered pages, structured data, answer-first copy that is easy to quote, a service page for every service, and content that is kept current.

I build those in from the start instead of bolting them on, and I set up the measurement so you can see what is being cited and what is not.

Faster changes, lower running cost

A site on a modern stack is one that AI coding tools work well with, so a new page, a form change or a redesign takes hours of my time, not a quote and a three-week wait. You can make small edits yourself; I can make large ones the same day.

There is also less to pay for. No plugin licences, no security add-on, no backup service, no hosting tier to outgrow: most of what a WordPress site needs bolted on comes with the platform.

CAMCO: Training the Team, Building the Tools

Ongoing AI advisor to a commercial real estate group, remotely and through on-site enablement and training visits, starting with a rebuild of their website. I regularly teach partners and staff how to put AI to work in their daily workflows. I built Power Automate flows that scrub sensitive financial information from offering memoranda and other documents in SharePoint, with strict permissions on what the AI can and can't access. I also built a web app they can open anytime on a prospective property: it pulls from public records, satellite imagery, government announcements and recent news, then scores the property on power availability and expansion potential.

Primari Health: An AI-Ready Practice

A new primary care practice and its website, built to be found and to grow. Automating front-desk work and patient outreach was the only way the doctor could open cost-effectively, but it had to stay HIPAA compliant, which limits where AI can touch patient data. I analyzed a range of telehealth platforms to find the best fit for the AI it needed now and the AI it would add later.

How I Work

01

Discovery

Deep-dive into your business, challenges, and what you've already tried. No solutions until I understand the problem.

02

Plan

Design the right approach: a rebuild, enablement, automation, a full build, or a combination, and whether to build at all.

03

Build Together

When I build, I build with you. Weekly check-ins, visible progress, and you understand every decision along the way.

04

Handoff & Beyond

Every engagement ends with your team able to operate independently. And if you need me again — for a new challenge, a second opinion, or just a gut check — I'm here.

Questions clients ask

Will I lose my search rankings?
No. Every existing URL is kept or redirected to its new home, the content moves over, and the new site is submitted to Google and Bing on launch. Most sites end up ranking better because they load faster and are easier to crawl.
Do I have to leave WordPress?
Not always. If the site is well kept, trimming plugins and moving to a host that patches PHP promptly may be enough, and I will say so. A rebuild is for sites that are slow, insecure, or too fragile to change.
Can I edit the site myself?
Yes. Text and images are kept in a form you can edit without a developer, and anything bigger I can turn around quickly because the stack supports AI-assisted changes.
How long does a rebuild take?
A typical small business site goes from kickoff to launch in a few weeks. The scope and a capped budget are agreed before work starts, and I stay inside them.
